It’s an idea worthy of a hearty “Bravo!” The excitement, grandeur and artistry of The Metropolitan Opera is matched with the convenience, ticket price and popcorn of Regal New Roc Stadium 18 & IMAX.
Now through May, residents may enjoy live high-definition performances of The Metropolitan Opera, including Richard Wagner’s final masterpiece, “Parsifal;” Guiesspe Verdi’s “Rigoletto;” George Friderick Handel’s “Giulio Cesare;” and Riccardo Zandonai’s “Francesca da Rimini.”
The opera series, which began Feb. 16, continues on March 2 (“Parsifal”), March 6 (“Rigoletto” encore presentation), March 16 (“Francesca da Rimini”), March 20 (“Parsifal” encore presentation), April 3 (Francsesca da Rimini, encore presentation), April 27 (Giulio Cesare) and May 15 (Guiluio Cesare, encore presentation).

The productions will satisfy opera lovers and first-time viewers alike. The New York Times said, “The Met has assembled about the best ‘Parsifal’ cast available today” and noted that “Rigoletto” director Michael Mayer “has brought theatrical flair to his operatic debut” of Verdi’s tragic masterpiece of lust, betrayal and revenge, which has been set in Las Vegas in 1960.
“Francesca da Rimini,” inspired by an episode from Dante’s Infermo, stars dramatic soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek and tenor Marcello Giordani as doomed lovers. “Giulio Cesare” was praised by The Guardian of London as a “witty, sexy and tragic post-colonial framing of Handel’s Caesar and Cleopatra tale.”
