Area Opera Lovers Treated to Taste of New Rochelle at Special Reception Hosted by Trump Plaza Condominium
NEW ROCHELLE, NY (October 2008) – More than 150 opera lovers from throughout the Westchester area were treated to a taste of New Rochelle’s culinary best at a special reception hosted by Trump Plaza luxury condominium following the October 11th Metropolitan Opera simulcast at the Regal Cinema in New Roc City.
Called Encore – Downtown New Rochelle, the event was organized by the New Rochelle Business Improvement District (BID), the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, Trump Plaza and Regal Cinema.
Ticket holders who attended the Metropolitan Opera simulcast of Richard Strauss’ Salome were invited to a free reception held on the outdoor terrace of Trump Plaza overlooking downtown New Rochelle and Long Island Sound. There they sampled a wide array of fine foods prepared by seven New Rochelle restaurants. The participating restaurants included Bella Bella Italian Cuisine, Cholo’s Kitchen Peruvian Café, Coromandel Cuisine of India, The Gnarly Vine Wine & Cheese Café, Mo’s New York Grill, Little Mexican Café and City Chow House.
“We’re absolutely thrilled by the turnout for this exciting event. This was a real boost for downtown New Rochelle and served as showcase for all the great things this city has to offer -- fine restaurants, great entertainment and luxury housing,” said Marge Schneider,
Executive Vice President of Cappelli Sales & Marketing, the exclusive sales agent for Trump Plaza. “We are looking forward to working with the New Rochelle BID in hosting more of these opera events in the months ahead,” she added.
Ralph DiBart, Executive Director of the New Rochelle BID, said the event attracted people from a wide range of communities in Westchester and nearby Fairfield County, Connecticut. “Many said they regularly attended the opera simulcasts at Regal Cinema and we’re delighted to be introduced to these excellent downtown restaurants. They loved the food and planned to dine at these restaurants when they came to New Rochelle for future opera performances. They also enjoyed the elegant ambience and hospitality of Trump Plaza,” said Mr. DiBart.
The event is part of the New Rochelle BID's ongoing effort to promote the many activities in downtown New Rochelle including restaurants, entertainment and new luxury housing. Encore - Downtown New Rochelle is the first of a series of gala BID events to introduce the public to New Rochelle’s growing number of quality residential, dining, entertainment, and shopping opportunities.
