NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING CITY OF NEW ROCHELLE

MAIN AND HUGUENOT STREET TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS CONVERSION TO TWO-WAY OPERATION

CITY OF NEW ROCHELLE, NY PROJECT IDENTIFICATION NO. (PIN) 8759.00

The City of New Rochelle has announced that a public hearing will be held to present the project and solicit comments from the public on the proposed conversion to two-way traffic operation. The meeting will be held at City Hall, 515 North Ave, New Rochelle, NY on September 14, 2017 at 6:00 P.M.

The City in cooperation with Lochner Engineering, AKRF, BFJ, the New York State Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration is designing improvements to the Traffic Signal equipment on Main Street and Huguenot Street. The project proposes to replace existing signal mast arms, span wiring, controllers, signal heads, and improve pedestrian facilities within the project limits with new ADA compliant concrete sidewalks; curbing; handicapped accessible ramps and detectable warning fields, and high-visibility crosswalks at the intersections.  During the design process, an opportunity was identified to convert Main Street and Huguenot Street from one-way to two-way operation to create a safer more pedestrian friendly downtown area.

The purpose of this meeting is to obtain comments on the proposed project from individuals, groups, officials, and local agencies. The City is specifically soliciting comments on the conversion of Main Street and Huguenot Street to two-way operation between Pintard Avenue and Pratt Street.  This public informational meeting is part of the continuing efforts by the City of New  Rochelle, the New York State Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration to encourage public input into the development of transportation projects under the NEPA process.

Please advise Mr. Brian Mandryck, Project Manager of Lochner Engineering if any additional accommodations will be required to facilitate your participation in this public meeting. Mr. Mandryck can be reached at Lochner Engineering, PC; 181 Genesee St, Suite 300, Utica, NY 13501, by telephone at (315) 793-9500 or via email at bmandryck@hwlochner.com.

Further information on the project may be obtained from Mr. Mandryck at the above address or Mr. Patrick Sbano, Director of Traffic Engineering, City of New Rochelle Department of Public Works, City Hall 515 North Avenue, New Rochelle, New York 10801, by telephone at (914) 654-2135 or via email at psbano@newrochelleny.com.
