Of the many brochures that the BID has published on Downtown, one of the most popular has been the BID’s walking tour “Historic Downtown New Rochelle”. (click here to download) .
Many community residents have asked that we provide more information on the rich history and architecture of our Downtown. When the BID held a focus group reviewing our new website, again, one of their recommendations was to provide more information on Downtown's buildings, people and history.
We are therefore pleased to announce that a new section “Downtown History” will soon be introduced on the web site which will include monthly presentations on historic events, important structures and notable personalities. New Rochelle is very fortunate to have Barbara Davis as its Acting City Historian. Barbara is both knowledgeable and passionate about our history. She is also Chairperson of the Historic Preservation Advisory Committee for the County of Westchester and is the New Rochelle Public Library Community Relations Coordinator.
We are happy to announce that Barbara Davis has agreed to work with the BID on this new and exciting section.
