Harlem on My Mind is a one-woman musical journey through the dynamic period in history known as the Harlem Renaissance. Created and performed by Julia Breanetta Simpson, Harlem On My Mind is directed by Shaunelle Perry with musical direction by Ken Levinsky. This dazzling show celebrates the music of ‘Duke’ Ellington, Thomas ‘Fats’ Waller, Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin and others.
Along the way you will explore the poetry of Langston Hughes and encounter the larger than life personalities of Bessie Smith, Ethel Waters and Josephine Baker.
Recommended for ages 12 and above.
