The New Rochelle BID will present a “Designer Showcase” featuring five New Rochelle interior designers and products from more than fifty downtown businesses. Candice Denslow (Consign It on Main) and Louis Vaccaro (The Curtain Shop) are Co-Chairs of this campaign. The showcase will be open to the public through a series of special events over a four week period starting October 25th when the showcase apartments will be first presented to the public as part of the 12th Annual Accent on New Rochelle House Tour to benefit the Solomon Katz Breast Center at Sound Shore Medical Center. Louis Vaccaro noted: “The BID Downtown Designer Showcase will be a unique and fun way to educate the public to the many ways that Downtown can serve their needs and to raise important funding for community organizations such as the Solomon Katz Breast Center.” Five talented designers have been selected to decorate and furnish two apartments at Avalon on the Sound East using exclusively furnishings and merchandise from downtown businesses. Each apartment will be designed to meet the lifestyle and interests of two fictitious families whose profiles have been created for the decorators by the BID.
Designers Michelle Sanchez Boyce, Venera Evanko, Susan Simone Halliburton, Timothy McVey and Chenoa Maxwell have been busy discovering downtown New Rochelle stores and creating extraordinary plans for furnishing and decorating both Avalon apartments using exclusively merchandise and businesses from within the BID district. Their clients are two families being created by the New Rochelle BID: Rochelle and Rock Lawton, a young professional couple and Laura and Rob Davenport and their two children, Austin and Olivia. Learn more about these fictitious families and why they chose to live in Downtown New Rochelle later this month. The painters have arrived (generously donated by Von Mach Enterprises Inc) and the vision created by designers has taken shape. New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson stated: "The Downtown Designer Showcase will promote new opportunities for both shoppers and business-owners. The City is pleased to partner with the BID on this and other innovative programs to strengthen our local economy." Candice Denslow reported: “We are very fortunate to have five outstanding designers working together with local businesses to create a showcase highlighting the many benefits of living and shopping downtown. The surrounding communities are showing a renewed interest in our downtown. We feel it is important to provide them with a distinctive and enjoyable way to get to know us better. The BID Showcase will be a great experience for the entire community.” BID Executive Director Ralph DiBart reported: “This event is attracting a great deal of community enthusiasm. Over the next month we will announce the five designers, present profiles of the families created for each apartment, and publicize other promotional activities that will be part of the BID Downtown Showcase. Look for updates on this very special event at NewRochelleDowntown.com.” Sponsors for the BID Downtown Showcase include the New Rochelle BID, Avalon on the Sound East, the City of New Rochelle Business Retention Fund, and the downtown business community.
