Chenoa Maxwell, a modern day renaissance woman, gracefully balances her roles as actor, photographer, and designer. With the BID Downtown Showcase she adds interior designer to her list of artistic accomplishments. Born in New York, Maxwell started her career behind the lens, and was best known for her breakout performance as the lead female in Miramax’s indie feature Hav Plenty.

On the small screen, she enjoyed a successful run as the much beloved “Lena” on Girlfriends. But it is in her most recent film, that Maxwell emerges as a true screen siren, staring opposite veteran actor Blair Underwood in the movie G, a modern retelling of The Great Gatsby.

Today, industry insiders recognize Maxwell’s achievements as a sought-after photographer. In 2008, she hit her stride and produced her first cover story for Dime Magazine with basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal.  Since then, her signature style and explosive use of color has quickly earned her a reputation of a woman with limitless talent and great work ethic. Maxwell’s works have been exhibited in various galleries around the US including the infamous SoHo Photo Gallery in New York City.

The same visual skills that have made Maxwell a great photographer have also enabled her to excel at home decorating. Just last year, Maxwell’s home was chosen for the Accent on New Rochelle House Tour and visitors were stunned at how Maxwell was able to renovate and transform an old house into a beautiful home. Her strong vision was given wings when she employed the help of interior designer Michelle Sanchez-Boyce who was also kind enough to teach her the art of interior design. This year Maxwell is excited to move from student to designer, bringing her many talents to the BID Downtown Showcase. Maxwell currently resides in New Rochelle with her husband of seven years.
