People from around the city gathered on Library Green for a screening of Steven Spielberg’s hit 1982 movie E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.

In addition to the outdoor movie, the New Rochelle Business Improvement District (BID) opened an art gallery, BID Gallery 542, along with an open studio evening, which included the first BID ArtWalk.

“As a result there were hundreds of people on streets who otherwise would not have been downtown,” explained Executive Director of the New Rochelle BID Ralph DiBart.

“Restaurants and businesses with whom I spoke reported a much higher than average amount of business.” DiBart added that the BID tries to organize these events to bring people downtown and to encourage them to discover what is happening in New Rochelle and to support local businesses.
