The exuberant sounds of Zydeco resounded in downtown New Rochelle on Thursday evening, July 16, when the BID Music on the Green concert series kicked-off with a performance by the internationally renowned group of Nathan and the Zydeco Cha-Chas. Dance lessons for the traditional Creole music were offered before the show, preparing many of the 500-plus audience members for the non-stop dancing inspired by the Louisiana-based group.
The free concert series, sponsored by Avalon on the Sound, continues on July 23 with the 16-piece steel orchestra, The Pantonics, and concludes on July 30th with Samba and Brazilian jazz by the Nanny Assis group. Both concerts begin at 6:30 pm and will be held in the library’s Ossie Davis Theater in the event of rain. Complimentary tickets will be available in the library’s lobby on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 5:00 pm.
