China Cat Jewelry by Judie Benzer The relationship between materials, mixing precious and common resources in new ways is evident throughout my work. I use advanced techniques in combination with traditional and nontraditional materials to create my handcrafted jewelry and boxes. Stones set in sterling silver, specially formulated concrete are signature designs. I explore a variety of methods in creating the pieces shown. Generally the pieces are fabricated or cast using a variety of means.
I continue to visit an array of themes that reoccur in my work. Notions of dreams and narratives of all sorts are represented and expressed throughout my work. Some of them are the celebration of geometric forms, contrasting symmetry with asymmetry, while others are more freeform expressing nature with direct castings from organic materials.
All beaded work is created from my extensive collection amassed over decades. Including a wide variety of gemstones and vintage glass all finished with custom closures and clasps.
My all boxes all tell stories with a twist. They are unique, one of a kind and fun. They are all made of brass and copper, with lots of surprises.
