3 Dates for Sizzling Music & Dance Parties at Library Green Each night dance lessons will take place at 6:00 – 6:45 pm Then the music starts 7:00 – 8:30 pm. In the event of rain, the music moves indoors to the library’s Ossie Davis Theater. Complimentary tickets are available in the library lobby beginning at 6:00 pm. July 14th at 6 pm / Dance and swing to the big band sound! Music by the 17-piece Fairfield Counts Big Band. The sounds of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Gene Krupa and the great Count Basie are all part of the repertoire guaranteed to get all ages in the mood for swingin’ and jivin’. You too can learn how to swing. MORE> July 21st at 6 pm / Learn how to Samba! Nanny Assis returns to the Green with sensational sounds of Samba, Bossa-Nova, Baiao, and Brazilian Jazz standards. His group will be joined by two professional Samba dancers in costume—who will also share their moves in lessons. MORE>
July 28th at 6 pm / Salsa Baby! Grupo Latin Vibe, a 7-piece Latin jazz band, brings a high powered energy show to every band stand. The band’s irresistible groove makes them a favorite of Metropolitan area salsa dancers, a number of whom will be providing the demonstrations and lessons. MORE>
August 4th at 8 pm / Movie on the Green: Wizard of Oz What a great night! A costume contest, parade and then the movie on a two story high screen on Library. Don't miss this event. 8:00 pm: Costume Contest; Film Begins at 8:45 pm. MORE>
Yoga on the Green Fridays, starting July 8th, 15th, 22nd & August 5th, 12th / Classes are at 6-7 pm & 7:15-8:15 pm. Experience a yoga class taught by certified instructors outside on Library Green! Mandatory registration begins 15 minutes prior to class. Please bring a yoga mat. MORE>
2nd Annual “Jazz in July” New Rochelle Summer Festival Friday, July 8th through Sunday, July 10th Friday evening, a variety of groups will play from 7–11 pm in several Downtown locations, including Backstreet Gallery, Alvin and Friends, McKiernan's, The Brickyard and Gallery Café. MORE>
On Saturday and Sunday, 7/9-10, groups will perform from 1-9:30 pm in Library Green Park. Admission is free.
