Big Read Kick-off: Fiesta Grande on Mexican Independence Day
September 16, 2012, from 1:00 – 5:00 pm
A family-friend, large-scale fiesta will launch New Rochelle’s Big Read – a community-wide reading of Sun, Stone and Shadows: Twenty Great Mexican Short Stories.Library Green will be transformed into a bustling market place of art, music and dance, as artisans demonstrate traditional Mexican crafts, vendors sell wares and foods of Mexico, and craft-making booths will provide opportunities for all ages to create take-home projects.
Downtown Circus Performers for Arts Fest
Saturday, September 22, 12:30 – 5:00 pm
Hop on, hop off the Arts Fest Trolleys making stops at several venues throughout the City for the second annual Arts Fest!
Jugglers, fire-spinners, unicyclists, and clowns will be performing all along Main Street and other downtown locations during Arts Fest 2012. While visiting galleries and artist studios, the whole family will be entertained with the pop-up shows by skilled members of the performances of the National Circus project.
Family Fun Fall Festival
Saturday October 20, 10:00 am – 11:30 am, Library Green
Families with children ages 8 – 12 years are invited to paint seasonal scenes for Halloween and Thanksgiving on the windows of downtown businesses.
A mask-making workshop geared for younger children will take place in Library Green.

Costume Parade, followed by Pumpkin-Painting in Library Green

Line-up for the annual Merchant’s Urchins Parade begins at 9:45 am at New Street, New Roc City (in front of Regal Cinema) and ends at Library Green Park.
Treats and pumpkin-painting on the Green follows.
