2013 BID Music on the Green
Three Free Concerts Under the Stars Thursdays, July 18, 25, and August 1, 2013 7:00 – 8:30 pm Library Green, Huguenot and Lawton Streets, New Rochelle, NY 10801

Get on those dancing shoes, bring the picnic blanket, and settle in for great music – with cool breezes - on Library Green! The popular outdoor concerts, in the heart of downtown New Rochelle, are made possible by the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement DiEvents_Louie-Miranda.jpgstrict, in cooperation with the New Rochelle Parks & Recreation and the New Rochelle Public Library.

In the event of rain, the concert moves indoors to the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library, on a first-come, first-served basis to the capacity of the 138-seat theater, beginning at 6:30 pm.

July 18: Louie Miranda and Subanda
This dance band packs a great punch – playing a glorious, crowd-pleasing mix of pop, salsa, country, R&B, and more – from the 60’s to today. Louie knows how to get a show moving – along with his Manhattan-savvy musicians on bass, keyboard, percussion and guitar. You will find yourself bailando y cantando!

Love Motown, R&B, Soul and funk? You’re in luck! Funk That band, led by drummer Brent Williams, will let loose with all the styles – and more. Funk That is a fresh exciting group of musicians that have been performing throughout the tri-state area for years. Brent Williams is a versatile drummer with 30 plus years of experience, including gigs with The Main Ingredient, The Weather Girls, Curtis Mayfield, The Platters, Phyllis Hyman, Sara Dash, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, to name a few. He has also written music for a Billboard Top 10 Hit entitled "Head Over Heels" for Epic Recording Artist Tony Terry.

August 1: Something Special Big Band
Events_Something-Special.jpgWith five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, and a full rhythm section, Something Special guarantees a fabulous big band sound. These top-flight musicians have been featured at many of the major music and jazz festivals throughout the New York metropolitan area and have performed with great swing bands such as Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, and Count Basie. The band plays a variety of big band music from nostalgia to contemporary swing, but is best known for its exciting Basie style, making it one of the finest swing/jazz bands in the New York area.
